The stand designed by Estudi Arola for the lighting firm, Santa & Cole, on the occasion of the 2006 Light+Building fair in Frankfurt, was a project entirely based on the use of raw construction materials which are traditionally used to build ephemeral interiors, such as those employed in the construction of stands. From the outside it appears as a large, black poplar-wood box, resembling a package, with bare framework. The logo is printed on this exterior surface as if stamped. The interior sides of the box appear splashed with sheets of red colour that seem to unfold strategically over the walls acting as a backdrop in order to enhance the products on display.

The stand is divided into 3 functional areas: an exhibition of lamps for interiors; a space dedicated to urban furniture, occupying a courtyard-style area with illustrations on the walls of tree silhouettes; and, finally, a more private area for meetings. Antoni Arola’s new suspemsion-lamp design, Cubrik, became the excuse to create a backdrop for the meetings’ area, covering an entire wall with the same backlit reticle, although here, the slabs were adjusted to form the shape of the firm’s logo.
